Testing a New Pattern
We’re in full Research and Development mode for our next pattern! The next one will be a little more complex, using seven different blocks in total. To compensate for having so many different blocks, we’re trying to simplify the techniques used.
Making up test blocks with fabric scraps is one of the most interesting parts of the process. Because we want to make do with what we have and use up the scraps, sometimes we combine fabrics of different weights. Placing a cotton voile next to a poplin can be a bit slippery at times, but it’s always a fun process!
Have a look at some of our test blocks!
You might have recognized some blocks that normally use Flying Geese. Except here they’ve been made with Half Square Triangles. In fact, all of the blocks for this quilt use only squares, rectangles or Half Square Triangles. This is one way that the pattern is being modified to be a little simpler. With the final quilt being composed of so many different blocks we wanted to streamline the cutting and assembly process a little.
Expect to hear more about this pattern in the future!
