Witch’s Hat
We were inspired by the Halloween season to create a special quilt pattern this year: the Witch’s Hat. The Witch’s Hat placemat is perfect for candlelight dinners and a moody, magical atmosphere!
The pattern offers an excellent introduction to learning how to make Half Rectangle Triangles. The instructions provide fabric requirements for two placemats. You can easily double the recipe, as it were, if you want to make a set of four placemats. The pattern is also Fat Quarter friendly and is a great weekend project!
We’ve chosen a Sorcerer or Sorceress’s apprentice vibe with this version of the pattern. The black fabric is in the Cotton Couture Solids collection by Michael Miller and the purple moon fabric is called Moondust Purple by Camelot in its collection Written in the Stars.
Here’s another version we’re working on for a different look! This time we’ve used some Halloween prints from the Spooky ‘n Sweeter fabric collection by Art Gallery Fabrics. You can see more photos on Instagram with the hashtags #witchshatfilvolant and #chapeaudesorcierefilvolant. Thanks for taking a look, happy sewing and Happy Halloween!
