Halloween Patchwork Block

We’re starting to have a chill in the air, and it’s got us thinking about Halloween.  We decided to play around with a butterfly block, transforming it into a moth or a bat for something more seasonally appropriate.

This block dates from 1928 and can be found in Barbara Brackman’s book: “Encyclopedia of Pieced Quilt Patterns, 3rd edition.”

Maybe we’ll do a whole series with this block to make a table runner?  To be determined!

The principal fabric comes from an organic fabric line by Birch Fabrics using images by Charley Harper, which you can find in the shop

The background fabric is part of the Duality Fusion line by Art Gallery Fabrics, which you can also find in the shop.
