Advent calendar: a holiday project
Fall is definitely in the air and the holidays are around the corner! For those of us making gifts or decorations for the holidays, we often have to start well in advance. Christmas in July anyone?
It may seem early to start showing off winter holiday projects in October, but we know that a lot of you have already started your holiday sewing. So, to give you some added inspiration, we’re sharing this lovely Advent calendar sewn by L’atelier de Luci, using a fabric panel from the “Merrymaking” collection by Gingiber for Moda Fabrics.
The fabric panel is all set to go, you just need to cut out the numbered squares and sew them to the printed squares on the other half of the panel. There are even instructions printed along the bottom of the panel - so handy! This is a simple project to put together and can be finished in a weekend.
L’atelier de Luci used a pre-quilted fabric for the back of the project to save time, but of course, you can select your own fabric for the back and quilt it (or not) as you like.
The panel by Gingiber includes the turquoise edging as well as the fabric to create the little hanging loops at the top, but it doesn’t include the fabric for the back of the project, nor the quilt batting (if desired). The panel measures approximately 24" x 44".
If you’re still looking for inspiration, we’ve got more fabrics from this collection available in the shop, including another fabric panel with animals and Santa Claus! :)
