Quilting Trends of 2024
The quilting trends (but not only) of 2024!
Once again, we found inspiration with the “American Patchwork and Quilting” podcast, but an article by Sallie Tomato Patterns also inspired us, as well as various trends we noticed during our craft fairs throughout France!
1. Colors:
Soft colors and earth tones
Like Pantone's color of the year - Peach Fuzz - shades of light pink, peach and beige are making a comeback.
Metallic
All that glitters: in fabrics, threads and embellishment!
Rainbow
This was already trendy last year and it should hold strong in 2024.
2. Fabric:
Dogs and Cats
“Barbie” Pink for Christmas
Christmas fabric collections using “Barbie” pink instead of red.
Fruit + Low Volume
3. Projects
Upcycling
Using what you already have in new and imaginative ways!
Small projects
The satisfaction of being able to finish something in a weekend!
Clothing and Accessories
The quilt coat trend has evolved and we are seeing other types of patchwork clothing as well as lots of embellishment!
4. Techniques
Hand Stitching
Big hand stitching, either for quilting or binding, plus decorative stitches.
Scrappy
This style of patchwork is in the same vein as the “Cottage Core” trend plus upcycling, but it can also include bright colors.
5. Styles
Western Gothic
Sartorial codes of the American West combined with the “goth” style of the 90s.
Cottage Core
A search for simplicity which is associated with a certain rejection of technology and a return to one's roots; soft colors and small floral patterns are hallmarks of the style.
