Thread Labs subscription by Aurifil

Aurifil Threads is launching their new subscription box: Thread Labs!  This box is focused on learning and acquiring more skills when selecting and using different types and weights of thread.  Aurifil has put together special content for subscribers, including lessons, videos, and projects each month, with a focus on technique and applied skills.

To kick off the program, the first box (in July) includes seven (!) spools of thread, a complete swatch book and product brochure, as well as a special project with lessons designed and taught by Karen Miller (accessible on-line).

The subscription program runs from July through December 2023, with a new box and its educational content made available to subscribers each month during that period.

You can find more information about the program on Aurifil’s website, and check out this video by Karen Miller, who is one of the featured educators hosting the program. :)

If you’re just discovering Aurifil, they are an Italian company specialized in high quality sewing, quilting and embroidery threads.  In particular, they specialize in manufacturing 100% cotton thread that uses cotton from the Mako region of Egypt, which is known from its long cotton fibers, contributing to the strength and quality of the thread.

Our quilts here at Fil Volant are always pieced and (sometimes*) quilted using Aurifil thread, so clearly we are big fans of the quality!  *If we do the quilting in-house, it’s with Aurifil thread! ;)

Some of the Aurifil artisans who have been ambassadors for the company include Anna Wraith, Adam Burch, Bhiravi Rathinasabapathi, Claire Campion, Cristina De Miranda, Karen Foster, Porfiria Gomez, Zeiba Monod, and Brandon Wulff, just to name a few.

If you’re interested in signing up for the program, please let us know by this Friday, May 12th, to take part in our pre-orders!  Each box is 70 euros and the program runs for six months, from July through December 2023, with one box per month.

You can send us an email at contact@filvolant.com to let us know you’re ready to join Thread Labs or if you’d like more information about the program!
