2025 Craft, Home Dec, and Fashion Trends

For the last few years, I’ve tried to do a little recap of the trends predicted for the upcoming year. I am always curious to know what “the experts” predict and compare the predictions against what I see in stores and elsewhere afterwards.

This year, I’ve gathered and sorted through predictions from several sources, among which are: Pinterest Predicts, Craft Industry Alliance, Créations et savoir-faire and several podcasts such as “A Quilting Life”.

What’s New

So, without further delay, here are the trends for 2025! This year confirms the continuity of certain trends, such as upcycling and mending, as well as Cottagecore. But there is a new variation that is taking off: Châteaucore. Châteaucore takes themes from the Middle Ages and the Renaissance, such as knights and castles, for example, but this style combines them with resolutely modern values and perspectives. A good example of this style is Chappell Roan’s performance during the MTV VMAs.

Colors

Pantone’s 2025 color of the year is Mocha Mousse.

This is a color that indicates a shift toward warmer tones for neutrals. For a while, home dec was sitting solidly in the cool grey zone, but Pantone is predicting a move toward browns.

Another shade that will be trending this year - and it pairs quite well with Mocha Mousse - is pastel pink. This pink is much more delicate than last year’s famous “Barbie pink.” It’s a pink that we associate more with cupcakes, princesses, and lace. This color also leads us to our next trend for 2025: precious darlings.

Styles

This delicate style is going to manifest itself especially in baking, embellishments (such as ribbons and lace), but also in our quilting, crochet or embroidery projects. It embodies a search for lightness and spaciousness that is a continuity of the Cottagecore style, but it brings that aesthetic into even more of a fantasy world to offer us a little peace and playfulness.

Another style and/or theme that is continuing to develop this year is everything related to the American West, but especially cowgirls. In the following illustration, we can see the combination of several trends: the color palette with brown and pastel pink, as well as a certain playfulness with the cowgirl boots.

A gardening theme also goes with Cottagecore since we’re taking time to improve our homes and make them cozier, and at the same time, it links back to trends that highlight the do-it-yourself attitude as well as a concern for the environment that is present in mending and upcycling. In fact, many of the trends for 2025 are linked!

Techniques

To round things out, needlework and handcrafts are still in fashion! Several of the articles I consulted were enthusiastic about crochet - and especially the granny square - but Créations et savoir-faire has put modern patchwork in the spotlight instead. Of course, I'm not going to say otherwise! ;)

Speaking of, if you haven't tried modern quilting yet, why not start with one of our Héliotrope kits as a beginner project? In any case, there are many types of crafts, and the important thing is that you enjoy yourself!
