Witch’s Hat Pattern
We’ve designed a new pattern - just in time for Halloween! It’s called the Witch’s Hat and the pattern includes instructions for two Halloween-ready placemats.
We’ve rated it at a pre-intermediate level because it uses half-rectangle triangles, which require a little special care when pressing due to the fabric being along the bias. We suggest finger pressing first and being extra careful to not stretch the fabric along the bias grain.
The pattern includes detailed instructions for how to make the half-rectangle triangles, including trimming instructions, so don’t worry if you’ve never made them before. In fact, this is a great starter project to learn how to make them!
This project can be finished in a weekend and offers a great opportunity to use some magical fabrics and quilting designs! The pattern can also easily be doubled if you’d like to make four placemats; just double the fabric requirements and cutting instructions.
We’d love to see what spooky ideas you come up with! You can share your work on social media with the hashtags #witchshatfilvolant and #chapeaudesorcierefilvolant.
